Peter Willems Trio

Winner Maastricht Jazz Award 2023

An eclectic collection of folk/pop/singer songwriter songs, jazz standards, rap and their own material, brought together as one sound – their own sound: with this the trio of Peter Willems won the Maastricht Jazz Award in 2023, with Michal Niedbala on piano and Jakob Lingen on drums.

Peter Willems himself, a young singer and bass player from Maastricht, has already performed at festivals like North Sea Jazz and November Music. In 2019 he won the second prize at the Prinses Christina jazz concours: the words ‘star potential’ were uttered by the jury.

Recently Willems released his well-received debut album Double Dare, with American gitarist Gary Lucas, nominated for a Grammy and known of his work with Jeff Buckley and Captain Beefheart.
