Kruidkoek

Quirky, groovy, jazzy bites with a spicy twist, that’s what Kruidkoek has on offer.
‘We play GarageJazz. It sounds like… Ploctones? Zappa? Tarantino? Some shady 70’s fusion band? Nirvana if they went to jazz school?’ That’s what you get when you ask the four guys from Kruidkoek about their music. At inJazz we already got a taste of the band when they performed in the 2016 edition in Rotterdam. Their mix of jazz and rock, enriched with a home-made lightshow and a huge dose of improvisation and humor, definitely made an impression.
Kruidkoek originated at ArtEZ Conservatorium in Zwolle, ‘a childhood dream gone wild’, as they say. Four friends who get their pleasure out of making music without any concessions, not bothered by musical conventions or the confinement of genres.
After a self-titled album and a number of EPs, Kruidkoek released album Garagejazz in 2020. Next to that they created an interactive children’s concert to bring jazz and improvised music to kids ages 8-12. Since they couldn’t go anywhere anyway, they collaborated with poet, writer and percussionist Joost Oomen and wrote a music and poetry show called Vruchtjes Eten. The EP of the same name saw the light of day by the end of 2020. As of summer 2021, Kruidkoek is planning to give Garagejazz a well-deserved boost. Their showcase at inJazz 2021 is a terrific start on their path to glory!
