Maripepa Contreras Quintet

Melodic, colourful and energetic. Maripepa Contreras is one of the very few oboe jazz players in the world. The oboe is a type of double reed woodwind instrument.

Born in Spain and with a passion for Brazilian music, Maripepa brings original compositions rooted in jazz and reflecting her classical musical and jazz background. The quintet was formed at the Conservatory of Amsterdam where all musicians met each other and developed their musical skills on improvisation.
